At a recent social event (non-podcast related) the 4 of us made a disturbing realization. We are a close group. We have deep, meaningful, and interesting conversations. Yet, there are still so many things we don’t know about each other. For as deeply as we love each other, there are still parts missing.
And the funny part is, it’s more the mundane and stereotypical things that are the missing pieces. We may know where each other stands on heavy hitting humanitarian and socio-economic issues. We may even know our fellow podcast members’ perspective on the most important issues of our time, like “is Sasquatch terrestrial or interdimensional”. But when all is said and done, I may not be able to tell you someone’s favorite type of birthday cake. (Spoiler….we learned that the hard way).
So… In order to get to know our friends more deeply, our little podcast group decided to implement a Question of the Day practice (QOTD). Every morning one of us will text the other 3 a question. It may be about an area of life or an opinion we don’t already know. But always an area we would like to learn more about them. And, of course, we include our answer to said question.
Its amazing how much you learn about others by simply asking questions. And sometimes what you realize is the greatest learnings don’t even come from the direct answers they provide.
Take a listen to this episode where we share our experiences with this sweet and revealing practice.
